Paris is all about food. The density of shops in Paris is good, but the diversity in what they can offer is not. Or rather – the diversity within the diversity is good, compared to any Scandinavian town. In Paris they have not been taken over by the supermarkets. The cheese shop, the butcher, the baker – they all lie next door to each other, and the French they take the effort to visit every shop. This of course mirrors how serious they are about their foods, but also shows how a difference in food culture can change the city pulse, the life and use of the city. Has food culture anything to say for a sustainable city?
